On January 1, 2012 Connecticut made history by becoming the first state to require a minimum standard of paid sick days for certain employees. It means workers no longer have to choose between their health and their job. Now that paid sick days are the law, make sure you know your rights. Find out more by going to PaidSickDaysRights.org.
In addition to Paid Sick Days, Connecticut has established a task force to study Family & Medical Leave Insurance (FMLI) – a wage replacement program that Connecticut’s workers can access when they need time away from work to care for themselves during an illness, for a sick or aging loved one, or a new baby. You can find out more by going to CTFMLI.org.
Connecticut is a leader in ensuring that workers are protected when they, or a family member, gets sick through programs like paid sick days and Family & Medical Leave Insurance. We know that these programs work, and it is time for congress to pass these laws federally so that every worker across the country is protected. Tell your member of Congress and senators to support laws like paid sick days and paid family and medical leave!
